Field styles on forms and lists do not behave as expected

KB Summary by Now Assist

Description

As noted in the product documentation (Define field styles), Field styles based on the Value setting work only on lists. To apply field styles on both the field and the form, this field should be left blank. However, leaving the field blank does not display the indicated style on the list and the form.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Navigate to Incident > All and open an existing Incident record.

  2. Right-click on the field title Short Description and choose Configure Styles from the context menu.

  3. Set the styles as follows and then click Submit.

    Table: incident
    Field name: Short description
    Style: Color:red;

  4. Open an incident list.

    Note that the Short Description text is displayed in standard black rather than in red. (This works as expected on forms.)

Workaround

After carefully considering the severity and frequency of the issue, as well as the cost and risk of attempting a fix, a decision has been made not to address this issue in any current or future releases.
