Description

Our product documentation states that field styles based on Value only work on lists and that to apply field styles on both the field and the form, users should leave the Value field blank. For more information, see Define field styles.

However, value-based styles are still applied sometimes, such as on a popup or for some fields.

Steps to Reproduce

This behavior is intermittent and cannot be consistently reproduced.

  1. Create a field style with a value for a field on a table that extends Task.
  2. Navigate to that table (for example, planned_task.list).
  3. Identify a record that matches the value for that field style.
  4. In List View, hover over the preview icon for that record.
Note that the field style is applied to that form field.

Workaround

After carefully considering the severity and frequency of the issue, as well as the the cost and risk of attempting a fix, a decision has been made not to address this issue in any current or future releases.

It is possible to create a UI Script to enforce value-based styling on form fields.
