Description

On the Service Portal search page, the browser should get the user's location popup the fist time and then the browser settings should handle the  block/allow of  the location pop-up.
(Chrome-> Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Site Settings -> Location ->)

Steps to Reproduce

In an affected instance:

  1. Go to service portal and type something in homepage search

Actual behavior: It tries to get the user's location every time you type something to search

Expected behavior: it should get the user's location the fist time and then the browser settings should handle the  block/allow of  the location pop-up.
(Chrome-> Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Site Settings -> Location)

Workaround

This issue has been fixed. If you are able to upgrade, review the Fixed In or Intended Fix Version fields to determine whether any versions have a planned or permanent fix.

If you can't upgrade yet, perhaps the following workaround may help you:

Available in Orlando Patch5 and Paris:

  • Add the boolean sys_property glide.service_portal.disable_location_tracker and set it to true. This will force the browser to observe the chrome location properties: (Chrome-> Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Site Settings -> Location )

See Location tracking for more information.
