Symptoms

  • Order guides/Catalog items are not visible via their category page in Service Portal.
  • The same Order guide/ Catalog item is visible in Service Portal via global search.

Cause

Category for an order guide/catalog item is set using the category field in the table sc_Cat_item/sc_cat_item_guide table. This field has a synced record in a table called `sc_cat_item_category` and this can be checked via the related list "Categories" in the catalog item form.

Some sync issues can occur leading to a categorized catalog item having no records in the sc_cat_item_category table. The category page in Service Portal is using this table and if no value is set the order guide/catalog item won't be displayed in the categories page.

Resolution

Adding the missing category to the table sc_cat_item_category for the record with the issue fixes the issue. The related list categories in the catalog item form can be used for this.
