The "control attestation nightly run" is a scheduled job that is used to set the controls records back to the "Attest" state based on the 'attestation frequency' of the profile that is associated to the control record. 

By default, profile frequency gets copied over to control frequency unless there isn't any modification. 

However, starting from Madrid, the above mentioned scheduled job will be starting to use the "Control Frequency" instead of the profile frequency, since most of the users will not have access to profile frequency.
