How to expand a list filter by default

Issue

Description

This article describes two ways that a list filter can be expanded by default when the list is loaded.

Procedure

1) Using the "Pin" option:

Using this option would expand the filter by default. However, this would affect all filters on the same table. For example, if there are modules that would open:

  • Open Incidents
  • Closed Incidents

All of these modules would expand the filter by default because this option affects the whole table.

2) Using the URL parameter "sysparm_filter_pinned=true":

This option affects specific list and module only.

This URL parameter can be put under the "Arguments" field on the module record so the next time that specific module is clicked onto the list would open with the filter being expanded by default. This won't affect any other modules that open the same table list as in option 1 above.
