Update set Preview problem: Cannot commit Update Set

Issue

This article provides information and troubleshooting steps for errors seen when previewing an update set. These errors may look like the following:

Cannot commit Update Set '<update set name>' because: Update scope id '1167622b01473231007f47563dbb9a71' is different than update set scope id 'global'. Resolve the problem before committing.

Cause

The scope of all the updates in the update set has to match the scope of the update set itself.

i.e. All the customer updates have to be in the same scope as the scope of the update set

Example: The update set shown in the following screenshot has customer updates from three different scopes. But the update set was created in the Global scope. Any other updates other than the ones from Global scope shouldn't be present:

The update set has customer updates from 3 different application scopes

Resolution

All the customer updates have to be in the same scope as the scope of the update set itself.

You may want to remove the customer update entries. After that, if you preview the update set the preview problem will no longer persist.
