This article explains how you can track the progress of a plugin activation on an instance.
Plugins that are currently available on an instance can be viewed by going to System Definition-> Plugins. This displays a list of plugins available on the instance and their current status (Active/Inactive).
An administrator can activate a plugin by searching for the required plugin in the list, opening the record and clicking the 'Activate/Repair' related link.
When a plugin is activated, a pop up comes up displaying the status of the install (sample pop-up below for installing Agent Workspace plugin):
However, sometimes a user might lose the pop-up in scenarios like where user session times out or similar and this hampers the ability to track the progress of the plugin activation.
Below are a few places where you can look to validate the status of the plugin activation and if it installed properly.
Plugin activation progress
Other than the pop-up displayed above, you can check the status of the plugin activation in these areas of the application:
You can check the status of a plugin install in the sys_progress_worker table.
You will have to filter on the table for field 'Name' contains <plugin name> as shown in the example below for Agent Workspace plugin:
The 'State' field will give an idea whether the plugin activation has completed or not. Also, the 'Message' field calls out what the plugin is installing or modifying currently.
You can also check in the sys_execution_tracker table the status of the plugin activation.
You will have to filter on field 'Name' contains <plugin name> as shown below for Agent Workspace plugin:
Here the 'State' field indicates whether the plugin has been successfully installed or not and the 'percent Complete' helps to track the progress.
Clicking through these records and then selecting 'Show status' on the 'Related Links' section would display a pop-up showing the progress of the plugin activation as shown below for Agent Workspace plugin:
You can check whether the plugin has been activated by checking the stats.do page. Go into the left navigator and type in stats.do. Search for the plugin name in the 'Background Scheduler' section of the 'stats.do' page as shown below for Agent Workspace plugin:
Seeing the entry of your plugin listed here means that the plugin installation is still underway. The 'Job duration' gives an idea how longs its been running for.
Refreshing the page will help you track when the plugin activation has completed as once it is completed it won't show in the 'Background Scheduler' section.
