KB Summary by Now Assist

Description

When you export a KB article to PDF the line breaks are missing and looks very different to the article itself.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Navigate to Knowledge Base > Published > KB0000022 (as a good example)
  2. Right click on the Knowledge header and select Export > PDF (Portrait)

Notice that the content of the KB looks different to the exported KB article

Workaround

After carefully considering the severity and frequency of this problem and the risk of attempting a fix, it has been decided to not address this issue in any current or future releases. We do not make these decisions lightly, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

The PDF Export of a form is not a direct HTML to PDF export, which would give unreliable results, as HTML is designed to scale in width and height within a browser, is not designed to paginate or to render well in A4 pages. PDF forms and lists are built with iText, not with XHTML to PDF rendering engines.

The workaround is to use "Printer friendly version" option, available on any page including forms, that will generate the HTML to PDF export with formatted content.
