How does Time Worked create a Time card

Issue

Description

Task records have access to the 'Time Worked' field. Out of Box, this field will automatically begin to count time upward. For many business cases however, this functionality is not optimal. Time Worked begins counting time as soon as the Task is opened by the User, not necessarily when work starts. Hence, there is a system property available in UI Properties that forces 'Time Worked' to require manual 'Start'. When enabled, Users must first click the start icon ().

When the Task is later saved, the amount of new time in the timer is used to generate a Time Worked record (task_time_worked).

Procedure

  1. Navigate to System Properties > UI Properties
  2. Scroll down to (or use Find command on browser) to search for: 'Task timer field automatically starts when the task is displayed'
  3. Uncheck Property for 'No'
  4. Scroll to bottom of page
  5. Save
