Issue

When a parent CI is retired, the related child CIs (both hardware and software CIs) do not automatically get retired.

Steps

  1. Log in to any out-of-the-box instance
  2. Open the cmdb_rel_ci table
  3. Open both Parent CI as well as one of its Child CI
  4. Change the Install status of the Parent CI to retired and see that it does not change the Install Status of the Child CI.

Cause

This is default behavior of the Now Platform, see Dependent CIs management for more information.
