Description

When displaying the Global Text Search results in the new UI since Jakarta, it is not possible to display dot-walked fields. If these are added to the list layout of the 'Text_search' view, they will not display in the Global Search Results as expected.

https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/jakarta-servicenow-platform/page/administer/search-administration/concept/text-search-view-formats-results.html

It is important to note this is not related to attempting to search on dot-walked fields, but only an issue with the way the information is displayed. Dot-walked content in reference fields is not indexed in the parent record (Ref. PRB1183421/KB0693281).

Steps to Reproduce

In a post-Jakarta Instance:

1. Make sure the Incident form has a View called 'Text_search'

2. In the List View for 'Text_search', set the List Layout to contain:
Number
Short Description
Caller.Company

3. Perform a global text search for: SAP

Notice the results only display Short Description and Number, without Caller.Company.

Workaround

After carefully considering the severity and frequency of the issue, and the cost and risk of attempting a fix, it has been decided to not address this issue in any current or near future releases. We do not make these decisions lightly, and we apologize for any inconvenience.
You may Revert to the legacy global search UI where the issue is not occurring.
