Symptoms

Guided Tour: Adding a step callout to a tabbed Form section does not save after clicking the Save button.

Release

Jakarta

Cause

The tabbed Form section doesn't have an ID or CSS selector. In order for the Guided Tour Designer to attach a callout to form elements, they must have one of these properties. Therefore, the step cannot be saved.

Resolution

Add the guided tour step manually.

  1. Open the guided tour in form view, not in the Designer.

  2. If the step has already been created, find it in the related list and open it. Otherwise, add a new step by using the Designer to add a step anywhere in the form, and then returb to form view.

  3. In the step, use the Reference icon to the right to open the Target Reference reference field, which holds the link to the form element or section to which the step will be added.

  4. Fill out the form as follows:

    • Name: <Provide a name>
    • Type: Form
    • Table: The table to which you are adding the Guided Tour (Incident, Change Request, etc.)
    • Form Element: Form Section
    • Form Section: The sys_id of the sys_ui_form_section record to which you are adding this step
  5. Click Save.

The step should now be added to the guided tour.
