How to embed the Connect Support end user window ( $chat_support.do )


Description


Sometimes there is a requirement to have the end user facing chat window ($chat_support.do) inside of a widget in the portal or other places within the platform such as a UI Page. 

This is NOT a Documented or Supported implementation provided by development and may result in some features of Connect not working as expected because we expect it to be in a standalone window. Therefore, please test this implementation thoroughly before adding to production.

Procedure


Normally when you try to embed the $chat_support.do page within another frame such as a widget in the portal it busts out of the frame or does not load. To enable it to work within another frame you need to edit the system property "connect.support.redirect" to be true. This is set to false by default.
