Saving the first step within an OOB Guided Tour results in the following error message appearing:
java.sql.BatchUpdateException: Duplicate entry '1234567890abcedfghijkl1234567890' for key 'PRIMARY'

This error does not occur when a new Guided Tour is created or other steps are saved. The Sys ID presented within the error message points to the first Guided Tour Step [sys_embedded_tour_step] of another Guided Tour, which in most cases is the latest Guided Tour [sys_embedded_tour_guide] created.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open an existing OOB Guided Tour within the designer (gtb.do).


  2. Clicking on the first step, click Save.

    Note that you are unable to save changes made to the first Guided Tour Step and the following error message appears:

    java.sql.BatchUpdateException: Duplicate entry '1234567890abcedfghijkl1234567890' for key 'PRIMARY'




  1. Navigate to Guided Tours > <your-affected-tour>.

  2. Scroll down to the Related List that contains the list of steps.

  3. Change the order of the fields in the sequence 0,1,2,3... and so on.

    For example, if your tour has four steps, change the order value for the steps to 0,1,2,3 in the order they should be executed.
