Description

A large number of transitions in a workflow may cause performance issues when editing in the workflow editor. Although this issue can be seen in IE11, Firefox, and Chrome, it is more prevalent in IE11.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open the workflow editor and create a new workflow.

For more information, see the product documentation topic Workflow editor.

  2. Add workflow activities and create about 30 activities attached via various transitions.

  3. Check in and check out.

Note the slow load times and the slowness of drawing transition lines.

Workaround

For a temporary fix, break up the workflow steps into separate subflows. Firefox and Chrome browsers perform better than IE in this situation.
