Description

Approval for Cloud resources is fixed to a group approval and does not allow individual approval (such as a requester's manager) without customization.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open the Workflow editor and check out the Virtual Machine Request workflow (for Azure/VMware).

    For more information, see the product documentation topic Workflow editor.

  2. Open the approval activity at the beginning of the workflow, which is an approval group.

    Note that there is no way to add an individual user as an approver, such as the requester's manager.

 

Workaround

To make a particular user an approver for Virtual Machine Request, add that user to a user group and make that user group the approver for Virtual Machine Request WF > Approval activity.
