When Service Mapping is enabled, an auto upgrade failure can occur when multiple MID servers are configured on the same machine. This issue does not occur consistently for every upgrade.

Steps to Reproduce

Perform an auto upgrade of the MID Server.

For more information, see the product documentation topic MID Server upgrade.

If you are able to upgrade, review the Fixed In field to determine the versions that have a permanent fix.

When the upgrade fails, the MID Server goes down. Use one of the following methods to recover the MID Servers.

  • Download the MID Server and manually reinstall it.
  • Stop the ServiceNow WMI Collector.

    1. Go to the MID Server.

    2. Find the ServiceNow WMI Collector service, and then stop and disable it.

At this point the regular upgrade process of the MID should succeed.

    3. After the MID Server upgrade succeeds, enable the ServiceNow WMI Collector service.
