Description

Variable of Workflow Activity and its Type and Annotation fields are missing in Form Design page.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Navigate to Workflow > Administration> Activity Definitions.

  2. Open an existing Activity Definition or create a new one.

  3. in the Activity Variables related list, click New.

  4. Create a test variable with any Type setting and click Submit.

  5. Click Edit Variables Layout under Related Links.

Note that the variable is on the form but is not found anywhere in the Form Design page.

Workaround

For immediate relief, choose one of the following workarounds:

  1. Add _wf_activity_variable into the FormDesigner URL in between "var__m" and the sys id that follows it. For example:

    https://istanbulpatch2.service-now.com/$ng_fd.do?sysparm_attributes=startTable:%22var__m_wf_activity_variable_02d0fc06dbf43200d97a546fdf961936%22%2CstartView:%22Default%20view%22

  2. Make sure the variable name in the dictionary matches that of the URL.

The Dictionary entry should have values like the following example. (Note that the underscores in the variable – the variable should be the same as that of the URL. If it is not, manually modify the variable name created in the Dictionary as in the example.) The table name in the dictionary needs to match what is in the URL.

    Table: https://istanbulpatch2.service-now.com/$ng_fd.do?sysparm_attributes=startTable:%22var__m_wf_activity_variable_02d0fc06dbf43200d97a546fdf961936%22%2CstartView:%22Default%20view%22

    Column Name: your_variable
