Description

Unable to submit the catalog item if Container Start variable is set to mandatory at Dictionary level.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Navigate to Service Catalog > Catalog Definitions > Maintain Items.
  2. Open the record for any catalog item that can be accessed in Service Portal.
  3. In the Variables section or tab, click New.
  4. In Type, select Container Start.
  5. In Name, type in any name.
  6. Click Submit.
  7. Navigate to Service Catalog > Catalog Variables > All Variables.
  8. Click the menu icon  and select Personalize List Columns.
  9. Move Mandatory from the Available column to the Selected column.
  10. Click Save.
  11. In the Name column, find the variable you created in step 3.
  12. For the variable you created, double click at the end of the word false in the Mandatory column.
  13. Select true.
  14. Click Save.
  15. Open Service Portal.
  16. Click the item you opened in step 2. 
  17. Submit the item.
    Note that a pop-up message is displayed asking you to fill the container variable. The catalog item should submit successfully in the Service Portal without a message appearing.

Workaround

Clear the Mandatory option on the dictionary entry for the Container variable.
