KB Summary by Now Assist

Description

Files exported to Excel from ServiceNow display left-to-right instead of right-to-left.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Log in to the ServiceNow instance in a language that is read right-to-left.

  2. Navigate to Change > Open or any other list view.

  3. Click the menu icon near the title and choose Export, then select Excel as the export format.

  4. Open the resulting export file in Microsoft Excel.

Note that the content is not displayed as right-to-left.

Workaround

After opening the file in Microsoft Excel, go the Page Layout Tab and then click the Sheet Right-to-Left button. The spreadsheet will then display in right-to-left formatting.

Note: If this button is not visible, check the Microsoft Excel version number. Microsoft Excel v15.30 for Mac has been confirmed to have this feature, and previous versions of Microsoft Excel for Windows have supported this feature for several releases.
