Description

Date/Time fields such as "Opened at" and "Created by" are displaying the time zone sporadically when opening a form or creating a new record. This causes updates/inserts to fail as the "Invalid Date" error appears when attempting to save.

Some of these fields are set by the system and are read-only by default so there is no way to set them manually on the form. Users must refresh and recreate an incident after already filling out the fields, because there is no method for removing the time zone from read-only fields.

Steps to Reproduce

The issue has occurred most often in Internet Explorer, but has also occurred in Firefox. The issue is not reproducible consistently, but appears sporadically on task forms containing glide_date_time fields.

  1. Open any form with a date/time field.
  2. Check to see if the fields have a time zone.
    Note that the date/time field is displaying the time zone sporadically. The date/time field should not display time zone if the system property format is yyyy/dd/mm HH:mm:ss.

Workaround

There are two workarounds that can be applied until a definitive patch is provided.

  • Update the system property glide.email.append.timezone to false. This propagates to all dates and prevents the time zone from being appended.

  • If glide.email.append.timezone needs to be true for email actions settings, create a display business rule on all tables experiencing the issue using the following script:

    (function executeRule(current, previous /*null when async*/) {
    //workaround for PRB689121
    //reset the session time format to the user timeformat
    gs.getSession().setTimeFormat(gs.getSession().getUser().getTimeFormat());
    })(current, previous);
