When extending a table, such as Task, work notes and additional comments don't get added to the Activity stream on the form because auditing defaults to false for the new table.

Steps to Reproduce

As an administrator:

  1. Modify a Change Request form.

    1. Open a Change Request form.
    2. Right-click in the header and choose Configure > Form Layout.
    3. Use the slushbucket to add the Activities (filtered) and Internal Work notes (private) fields in a form section.
    4. Click Save.
  2. Navigate to System Configuration > Create New Table.

  3. Enter a table name.

  4. For Extends table, select Change Request.

  5. Ensure that Create new application and Create new module are selected.

  6. Click Create.

  7. Navigate to the new module.

  8. Click New.

  9. Create a new record for the new table.

  10. After clicking Submit/Save, add work notes and click Post.

Note that the work notes or additional comments are not added to the Activity section.

Choose one of the following workaround methods:

  • Select the Audit checkbox in the form when creating an extended new table.

  • Use the following procedure:

    1. Go to the custom table starting with u_.

    2. Right-click in the header and choose Configure > Form Layout.

    3. In the slushbucket, move the Activities (filtered) field from the right bucket into the left bucket, and then add it back to the right bucket.

    4. Click Save.

An info message should appear saying "Auditing has been turned on for this table."
