Search results do not stay in the current frame when initiated via CMS pages

KB Summary by Now Assist

Description

Text search within CMS pages causes the next search to open in a new frame in full page instead of the current page. It redirects to textsearch.do instead of search_results.do.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Navigate to the ess site.
  2. Do a text search from the search box in the upper-right corner.
  3. After the search results page is displayed, do a new search in the search box displayed inside the frame.
Note that the search opens in a full page instead of inside the previous cms frame.

Workaround

The search_results CMS page uses an internal macro that was designed to open in a new iFrame.

After carefully considering the severity and frequency of the issue, and risk of attempting a fix, it has been decided to not address this issue in any current or future releases.

We do not make this decision lightly, and we apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any questions regarding this problem please contact ServiceNow Technical Support.
