Resize of a Multi Line Text area in a sys_template record form does not work in IE 11

KB Summary by Now Assist

Description

In Internet Explorer 11, the Description Multi Line Text field within a sys_template record form cannot be resized, although the resizing works in other browsers (Firefox and Chrome).

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Log in to a demo OOB instance using Internet Explorer 11.

  2. import the attached sys_template XML record or add the Description Multi Line Text field to an existing template on a task record.

  3. Save the template.

Note that the multi-line field does not have the resize feature, but only displays the scrolling arrows

Workaround

Use Firefox or Chrome rather than IE 11.

Also related to KB0551043 (PRB636084); however, the workaround to resize the browser window for that issue might not work for the current issue in all browsers.

After carefully considering the severity and frequency of the issue, as well as the the cost and risk of attempting a fix, a decision has been made not to address this issue in any current or future releases. We do not make this decision lightly and we apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any questions regarding this problem or incident, please contact Customer Support.
