Determining why searches do not return all expected results after cloning 



After cloning, the following search functionality does not return all expected results:

  • Global Search bar in the top right of the user interface
  • "for text" search widget in any list user interface
  • Knowledge Base search bar
  • Service Catalog search bar



After a clone completes, we execute clone cleanup scripts. One of the normal operations the cleanup scripts perform is to re-index text search. This action takes place because the text indexes are not cloned. Text indexes are excluded from clones to cut down significantly on clone times and the amount of data that needs to be transferred between instances.

During the re-index, searches do not return all of the expected results. After the re-index is complete, searches should work properly.
