This issue occurs when assigning a survey from a definition that has 'survey' as the Evaluation method. When a survey instance record is created, an invite survey email is sent to the user. After the user finishes the survey, a duplicate invite survey email is sent to the same user.

This occurs because the survey email notification "Survey User Invite" is triggered a second time after the survey instance 'State' changes to 'Complete' when the survey is finished. The user does not need to receive a duplicate notification when they complete a survey.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Navigate to Survey Management > View Surveys.
  2. Open a metric type record.
For example, Change Request Satisfaction Survey.
  3. Click Assign Survey and assign the survey to any user.
Note that the survey instance record is created and an invite email is sent to the user.
  4. Impersonate the user assigned the survey.
  5. Complete the survey.
The survey instance State changes to Complete.
Note that a duplicate invite email is sent to the same user because the state change triggered the Survey User Invite notification.

Open the Survey User Invite notification and add an extra condition:

State changes to Ready to take or Assigned to Changes.
