The onChange client script Populate meta fields ["Option" changed] contains a console.log statement that breaks functionality on IE9 browsers when the development console is not open.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Log in to the demo instance.
  2. Ensure the developer console is not open.
  3. Open Item Designer > All Items.
  4. Open the Original Handheld Prototype item (this is the only base system record, but creating a new record also works).
  5. On the item form, click Add a Question.
    This opens the Add a Question popup window.
  6. After a brief pause, the error message below appears under Option:

onChange script error: ReferenceError: 'console' is undefined function onChange_sc_ic_question_sc_ic_question_type_3(control, oldValue, newValue, isLoading, isTemplate) { if (newValue == "") { g_form.setValue("base_type",""); g_form.setValue("read_only_question_type",false); g_form.setValue("preconfigured",false); hideShowChoicesLists(); return; } var questionType = new GlideRecord("sc_ic_question_type"); if (questionType.get(newValue) && !isLoading) { console.log("Setting values"); g_form.setValue("base_type",parseInt(questionType.sc_ic_question_class)); g_form.setValue("read_only_question_type",(questionType.read_only == 'true')); g_form.setValue("preconfigured",(questionType.preconfigured == 'true')); if (questionType.preconfigured == 'true') { g_form.setValue("question_text", questionType.question_text); g_form.setValue("help_text", questionType.help_text); } else { g_form.clearValue("question_text"); g_form.clearValue("help_text"); } } hideShowChoicesLists(); }

Note: Repeating the above steps with the developer console open does not trigger the issue.

Removing one line of client script resolves the issue.

  1. Navigate to System Definition > Client Scripts.
  2. Open the Populate meta fields ["Option" changed] record.
  3. Go to line 13, and remove the line: 'console.log("Setting values");'
  4. Save the client script.
