If an email address is specified as a notification recipient and the address matches a user's email address but has different capitalization, a null pointer exception may occur.
Steps to Reproduce
- Open any incident record.
- Add a user email address to the watch list, but change the case of the name. For example, if you have a user named email@example.com, add the the user email address Abel.firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Enter text in the Additional comments field.
- Save the record.
- Navigate to System Logs > System Log > Errors.
Note the null pointern exception error.
Correct the manually entered email address so the capitalization matches the email address in the User record.
