There is a memory issue when we export a list with a large number of columns.
List export are limited to 5000 rows (to avoid memory issues) but the user can turn down the server (by free memory problem) adding a large number of rows (for example, using 64 columns).

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Fill a table with +40k rows.
  2. Go to Reports.
  3. Create a report for the table.
  4. Add a large number of columns in this report (+50 columns).
  5. Export as a PDF.

Possible solutions are:

  • Limit the number of columns to a fix lower value. (It does not make sense to have a list with 50 columns because the list header does not fit in the pdf size).
    * adding a new property: glide.pdf.max_columns
  • Limit the number of columns to a variable value, and decrease the number of rows proportionally.
    For example, from 0-10 columns -> maxRows = 5000 (standard)
    from 11-15 columns -> maxRows = 3000
    from 16-20 columns -> maxRows = 1000
    from >20 columns -> maxRows = 100
