Check email connection and credentials



Overview


Determine whether you are connected to the email server and properly authenticated.

 

Symptoms


  • Cannot send email
  • Email is down
  • SMTP not working
  • Not receiving incoming email
  • Inbound email not functioning
  • Instance stopped receiving email
  • Inbound email is not working
  • Inbound email is broken
  • Outbound email not working

 

Troubleshooting


The following steps require the security admin role. For more information, see High Security Settings: Security Administrator Role

 

For users with the Berlin release and before:

  1. Navigate to Scripts > Background.
  2. Run the following code:

var pop3 = new Packages.com.glide.job.POP3ReaderJob();

pop3.execute();

gs.eventsProcess();

var smtp = new Packages.com.glide.job.SMTPSenderJob();

smtp.execute();

 

For users with the Calgary release:

  1. Navigate to Scripts > Background.
  2. Run the following code:

var pop3 = new GlidePOP3ReaderJob();

pop3.execute();

gs.eventsProcess();

var smtp = new GlideSMTPSenderJob();

smtp.execute();

 

 For users with the Dublin release or later:

  1.  Navigate to Scripts > Background.
  2.  Run the following code: 

var pop3 = new GlidePOP3ReaderJob();

pop3.execute();

gs.eventsProcess();

var smtp = new GlideSMTPSenderJob();

smtp.execute();

Or 

  1. Navigate to System properties > Email and check the connection status. You can point to the email status to get more information.

 

To test the Email Accounts plugin: 

  1. Navigate to System Mailboxes > Administration > Email Accounts.
  2. Select the email account to test.
  3. Click Test POP3/SMTP Connection

Wrong credentials message:

If the wrong credentials have been supplied, you will receive a message, Connection failed: Authentication failed. Please validate that the correct login credentials were supplied.
