Verifying the instance is enabled to send email


Enabling outbound email requires setting a system property to send email. If email is not appearing in the Outbox folder, the instance may not be enabled to send email.




  1. Log in to the instance.
  2. Navigate to System Properties > Email.
  3. Verify the Enable email sending (SMTP) property (glide.email.smtp.active) is set to Yes. This property causes the instance to send email messages. By default, the instance sends email to a ServiceNow SMTP server. 
  4. [Optional] Specify the Email address to which all emails will be sent property (glide.email.test.user) if you are enabling email on a sub-production instance and are testing email functionality.
