Restarting the database and application server



Overview


This article provides steps to restart a server as well as the proper way to shut down the database. Once the database steps are also provided to help bring the instance down.

 

Environment


Regarding environments running on *nix-based environments with Apache and MySQL. 

 

Procedure


Follow the steps below to shut down the environment:

  1. Shut down each application node:
    $ cd /glide/instances/<instance_port>/
    $ ./shutdown.sh
    Check its down by running a "ps -auxf | grep <instance_port>"

  2. Shut down the MySQL DB
    $ cd /glide/mysql/
    $ ./mysql.sh stop
    Check its down by running a "ps -auxf | grep -i mysql"
